What do we need, or better said, what I'm using:
-Tablero de "dm", para los que no sepan que es, es un tablero de aglomerado de densidad media. Fácil de encontrar y barato.
Yo estoy usando un tablero fino de 3 mm de grosor, ¿por que?, porque ya es bastante estable de por sí, y cualquier otro tablero más grande sería muy pesado de llevar.
-Goma eva, elegida entre los muchos materiales que tengo en mi casa, en principio porque tenía un rollo sin usar y quería darle uso, y aparte por probar un par de cosillas.
-Sierra de marquetería (si es posible), cutter, tijeras, cola blanca, una regla, etc, etc.
- "md" board, for those who don't know what is it, it's a fibreboard of medium density.
Easy to find and cheap.
I'm using a 3 mm thick board, Why?, because it's stable enough already, and any other thicker board would be to heavy to carry.
- eva foam, chosen among many materials that I keep at home, basically because I had a roll and wanted to use it, and because I want to test some things.
- scroll saw (if possible), cutter blade, saws, with glue, ruler, etc, etc.
Paso 1: Cortando / Cutting
Cortar el tablero a medida, yo he cogido, un tablero de 60 x 120 cm, y lo he cortado por la mitad para sacar 2 piezas de 60 x 60 cm. ¿Por qué dos tableros de 60x60?, bueno, en principio porque estoy harto de hacer cosas pequeñas y he querido hacer por fin una superficie grande, la segunda razón es porque es la dimensión de los tableros de warhammer, y puede que me sirva para ambas cosas.
Cut the board at proper size, I choose a 60 x 120 cm board, and cutted through the middle to get 2 pieces of 60 x 60 cm. Why two 60 x 60 cm boards?, well, first because I'm fed up doing small things, and I wanted to finally make a big surface, the second reason it's because it's the size for warhammer boards, and it may be used for both things.
Recuerda marcar bien las líneas y medir y volver a medir, ya que una vez que cortas... no hay vuelta atrás. La foto es una mierda pero os hacéis una idea.
Remember to mark the lines properly and measure, and measure again, since once you cut... there is no comming back. The picture sucks but you get the idea.
Paso 2: Lineado / lining up
Una vez cortado es el momento de marcar las líneas de las casillas o baldosas.
Estoy usando un módulo de 2,5 cm (casi una pulgada), la ventaja es que en 60 cm me salen 24 casillas de lado, más que suficiente para jugar.
Once you had cut it, it's time for marking the lines of the squares or the tiles.
I'm using a 2,5 cm module (almost an inch), the advantage is that in a 60 cm long board I get 24 squares, more than enoguh for playing.

Paso 3: Añadir las baldosas. / adding tiles.
Como ya he dicho, estoy usando goma eva de 2 mm de grosor, color gris medio para más información.
As I said I'm using 2 mm thick eva foam, medium grey colour for more info.
Por lo que he mirado en otros blogs y tutoriales, no es un material muy frecuente para escenografía, pero chico, tenía en mi armario y decidí no bajar a comprar más cosas.
La ventaja es que es un material que se corta sin problemas, su peso es muy bajo, lo que lo hace muy útil para transporte, como pega, si no tienes cuidado una presión fuerte con la uña puede quedarse durante horas, pero de esto ya hablaremos en el siguiente post.
For what I'd seen in others blogs and tutorials, it's not a comon material for scenography, but well, I had it inside my closet and decided not to go out to buy new stuff.
The advantage is that it's really easy to cut it out, it's weitgh is very low, wich make it very usefull for carrying, but on the other side, if you are not carefull a string preasure with the nail can stay for hours, but we'll talk about this on the next post.
Dado que tenemos unas casillas marcadas de 2,5 cm, es preciso hacer unas baldosas más pequeñas para dejar una separación entre ellas. Yo estoy cortando baldosas de 2,3 cm lo que nos deja una separación de 0,2 mm entre cada baldosa.
Since we have a marked tiles of 2,5 cm, it's necessary to make smaller tiles, in order to get a small sparation between them. I'm cutting 2,3 cm tiles, so I can get a distance of 0,2 mm between each tile.
Esta parte es realmente tediosa, hay que cortar y pegar 576 baldosas, por lo que se va a tardar un rato. Estoy usando cola blanca y parece que pega sin problemas, un amigo me dijo que usara pistola de silicona caliente pero me parece que no va a hacer falta.
Para el próximo post, tendré el tablero con todas las baldosas y pasaremos a la siguiente fase.
This is a very tedious part, you have to cut and glue 576 tiles, so it's going to take long. I'm using white glue and seems to be glueing without problems, a friend told me to use a hot glue gun, but I think there is no need for that.
For the next post, I'll be having the board with all the tiles, and we 'll move to the next step.
